Places I am longing to visit

In order for you to understand my love for these places you must first understand the definition of longing.

Longing

[lawng-ing, long-] Pronunciation Key
–noun
1.strong, persistent desire or craving, esp. for something unattainable or distant
2. To have an earnest, heartfelt desire, especially for something beyond reach.
3.
having or characterized by persistent or earnest desire: a longing look.

long·ing
n. A strong persistent yearning or desire, especially one that cannot be fulfilled.

So now that we have definitions out of the way lets get straight to the places I would love to visit.

Italy is easily the #1 place I want to visit. There are so many things that have made me so attached to a place I have never even been. When I was little I always wanted to be Italian but never thought much about visiting the country, however, over the past year I have had lots of things come up that made me wish I had some urgent reason to go. Unfortunately, instead I just spend lots of time online daydreaming about future vacations and looking at other people's pictures who have actually had the chance to visit this place.

I want to visit the Trevi Fountain

The Colosseum

I want to spend weeks just relaxing and touring Tuscany. Maybe I'd even be able to buy a Villa and live here for the rest of my life!

My future villa ... maybe ... :)

After spending enough time in Italy I would make my next stop in Greece. I have always been in love with the Greek mythology. In 6th grade I used to read book after book about their gods and I remember at recess me and my friends would play "Gods and Goddesses". Each of us would be one of the mythical creatures from this country's past and we would do whatever it is that 6th graders do when using their imagination.

My first stop would be the Parthenon. So much history is associated with this building. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about visiting here.

I'd also like to visit the monasteries of Meteora.

The last place I can think of I'd like to visit while in Greece is The Acropolis of Athens. I know the Parthenon is on the Acropolis of Athens but I had to separate the two because I REALLY want to visit the Parthenon.

And Finally the last place I dream of visiting is Australia/New Zealand. When I was little I used to dream about going on my honeymoon here. I realized I don't really know why I love the idea of Australia so much, but I did and still do. I guess it has something to do with the fact that when it's winter here it's summer there! I'd love to own a winter home where I can avoid the winter weather altogether.

Since I'm married to Ben I would "have" to visit New Zealand and the sites along the LOTR Tour. But I would enjoy every minute of it.

Then I would make sure to visit the Sydney Opera House

And the last place I can think of that I would love to visit in Australia and New Zealand is the Great Barrier Reef.

Anyway, someday, hopefully, I will have a chance to see a few of these places. And when I do you can guarantee there will be a plethora of pictures coming home with me!! Until then ... I suppose I'll enjoy the beautiful mountains that surround where I live.
