Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer Postponed Indefinitely

Very few of you probably realize how much I have enjoyed the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. The end of the series was rather bitter-sweet. Besides loving how it all ended, I was sad to see it end, however, their was joy in my sorrow because I knew another sister book to Twilight was in the making. It is a book that goes through all the same events as Twilight except from the viewpoint of another character.

My joy is no more. Someone illegally posted the first part of this book online. As a result Stephanie has put finishing this novel on hold indefinitely. I like how she described the reason for this hold so I am quoting her here:

"Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story."

The one "good thing", which is kind of a bad thing, is that she posted her version of the first part of her book on her website and I was able read the first 12 chapters. It was an awesome first 12 chapters. But, I was really looking forward to something that happens in the next chapter. THE NEXT CHAPTER. This event is the one of the main reasons I was so looking forward to this book being finished - well, I have to admit there were a lot of reasons but this was definitely one of THE BIG MOMENTS and I wanted to hear it all from the new point of view. Oh well.

While writing this blog I realized that the Twilight series for me is probably like World of Warcraft for a lot of guys. Once you get started all time becomes slightly irrelevant and I am lost in words that create a world that is just out of touch with reality - which makes it that much more fun.

I think I could blabber on forever about this series and how sad I am about the tragic outcome of this book, but I suppose all good things must come to an end. Whether that end is expected or is thrust upon us it all must end.

Alas. I was able to indulge and now I'm going through withdrawals. I guess I'll have to start the series over again.

I was just about to blog about this very same thing. You took my idea!! I was very upset about it too. I can completely understand why she would feel upset about being betrayed by someone she trusted, but still, I want the end of the story.

Brooke! Nice to see that we're all sucked into the same world. ;) I am also SO upset! And I am completely with you. I always wanted to read the book, but it was mostly for the NEXT chapter. I died when I realized that it quit RIGHT BEFORE we got there. Yaack! I can definitely commisserate with you.
