Body Worlds Exhibit

A little over a year ago we went to the Body World's exhibit in Portland, Oregon. It was interesting, informative, kind of gross, but something everyone should see at least once. And now all those who live in Utah have the chance. And it's about 1/3 of the price that it has been in some other cities.

It is being held at "The Leonardo (Click for more information)", which is right by the Downtown public library. For those who don't want to worry about parking you can take Frontrunner and then hop on University Trax and hop off at the Library. I think you have to walk a block to get to the building it is in.

Now, I don't know if this is a thing kids should go to or not. I don't have any kids and so I have no idea what kind of things are appropriate. I think it could be a great learning experience. COULD BE. However, it could just scar them - depending on how much explaining the parents do, I guess. But yes, you should go if you can because I think it's a very cool experience to have something like this so close!

Something to know before you go - the first exhibit you see will probably REALLY gross you out but as you read about what is going on and you see more exhibits you either become desensitized and/or you see beyond the grossness into the awesomeness that is the human body.

I would have posted pictures but they don't allow cameras into the exhibit. So anyway, GO! Enjoy the opportunity! And once you've gone share your thoughts in a blog!

Oh and remember to buy your tickets in advance (or be willing to wait a bit once you get there) because they only sell a certain amount of tickets every half hour.

I saw it in Chicago and I thought it was awesome. I know people who have gone several times. The craziest thing to me is that at the end there was a line of people ready to sign up to donate their bodies!

(There is a sign-up sheet at the end of the exhibit.)

we haven't seen complete bodies but did see several organs preserved that way at the science museum in hawaii. the kids thought it was cool. maybe i'll take them. i don't know. i'll think about it. i'm all for educating about the human body. we all have one yet it's crazy how little so many people know about it.

Thanks for letting us know about this! I've been wanting to go for SO long, but it's never somewhere close. It's still not close since we're in Michigan, but we'll be in Utah at Christmas so hopefully we can catch it then!

I seen it earlier today up here in Edmonton, Canada. It was an interesting visit but I don't think I would see it again. It certainly provided me with some questions regarding death and whether this exhibit is an educational experience or merely a 'circus' show.
