Addicted to sleeping aids

I'm addicted to sleeping aids and I have never even taken one. All my life I have been a very deep sleeper. I remember waking up one morning and hearing about the alarm that was going off all night long waiting for someone from town to turn off. I never heard it. I could sleep through a tornado and I did once. Although falling asleep is a different story I have always enjoyed being a deep sleeper. And then I got married.

I don't know if it is the fact I'm sleeping in bed with someone else or that I am sleeping on not so great mattresses but I take forever to fall asleep and then once I am asleep I don't stay that way for long. It's made me quite depressed lately but it brought me to a big realization.

About a month ago I was sick with a cold and so I took Nyquil one night and I had the best sleep that I have had in a VERY long time. Needless to say, I wanted to stay sick for the rest of my life just so I could enjoy the feeling of waking up in the morning with a good night sleep behind me. Well, I got better the next day and didn't need Nyquil anymore. But yesterday there was a commercial on TV for Tylenol PM, I think, and it showed the person getting a great sleep and then it said it did this in a non-habit forming way. Well the purpose of this blog is to say that I think any sleeping aid is habit forming because a good night sleep is just way too important to some people. For me, I'll never take sleeping pills because I love the feeling of a waking up from a deep sleep way too much. I think that is what would be addictive. So ... I will continue hoping that my sleep habits will return to what they once were and I will avoid the Lunesta, Tylenol PM, and any other sleeping aid isle because sometimes the need for a deep sleep can just be a little overwhelming.

p.s. Graduation is tomorrow! YAY!

congrats on graduation tomorrow. we can't come down b/c the kids have school and activities.
i sleep much better than i used to for some reason and even better if i take benedryl. i don't even hear my kids anymore when i'm asleep. i used to wake up with every little cough or snore. i guess i'm lightening up a bit as they are getting a bit older. maybe you guys should invest in a good mattress set. we've always bought ourselves good mattresses but everything else was el-cheap-o. we had no choice but to buy furniture though. we didn't know anyone getting rid of old stuff we could use. i bought a love seat from DI for five bucks and covered it up with some fabric i bought for two bucks and when we moved out of wymount we just left it by the dumpster and someone else took it. oh and we bought a recliner from DI too and also left it for someone else. can't believe i used to sit on that old dirty junk.
have a fun weekend!
