Documenting our labors this Labor Day

We've been doing a bit of reorganizing and rearranging around our place over the past few weeks. As a result, we stumble upon things we haven't seen in quite some time. One of those things happened to be this recipe book:

If you've ever been to The Roof you know that, not only is the view amazing but, the food is beyond delicious.

Anyway, we've had this recipe book for quite some time and realized we've never made anything out of the it because the recipes are kind of fancy. So, we decided to experiment. We also decided it was necessary to invite a couple friends over to participate in our experimenting because cooking for two just never seems worth it.

I now present to our Labor Day laborings!

Our salad (Sun-dried Tomato Pasta Salad .. or something like that).

Our delicious appetizer:
Somewhere underneath all that pulled pork is a potato skin.

Then on to the main dish, Pork Tenderloin Normandy with Dauphinoise Potatoes.

And our friends added to the delicious meal by baking some freshly picked blackberries into a blackberry cobbler made with whole wheat flour. It was incredible. I wish I'd gotten a picture of it before it was cut up because it was gorgeous besides.

We are all now stuffed and our kitchen is looking like a war zone but it was worth it! Everything was absolutely delicious. I'd say our experimenting today was a success!

Hope your Labor Day was just as fun!

Also, Happy 41st Anniversary, Tim and Fran! I'm so grateful to have such wonderful in-laws. Hope you had a chance to see each other today despite how busy it might have been.

Why thank you Brooke. We had a nice anniversary day and a lovely bike ride in the evening.
Your food turned out beautifully. I love the explosion of flavor in dried tomatoes. Mostly it's fun to see your apartment with a cute baby in a high chair.
