Guess who had his one month doctor's appointment today ...
I can't believe he's already 5 weeks old. How did that happen?
In the last week or so he's started following us with his eyes (or by moving his head) as we walk around the room. And he's started smiling a lot more. That smile melts my heart; unfortunately, he refuses to do it for the camera. Hm. Seems like he's already taking after his dad. He is a huge fan of tummy time and is starting to require the walking around the house for comfort routine.
Although, even with all his new little developments he still loves those contrasts. Babies are entertained by the dullest oddest things!
Unfortunately, and fortunately, at his appointment we found out he might have gastroesphogeal reflux (i.e. acid reflux due to an underdeveloped ... esphogeal?) which explains his excessive spit up problem these last few weeks and why he'll suddenly start crying in the middle of eating. Now we have to keep him at a 30 degree angle at all times which may prove difficult since he does not like his carseat and that is how they suggested having him sleep.
He also got a another shot at his appointment today and the face he made for those 2 or 3 painful seconds just broke my heart. Talk about sympathy pain! I'll gladly do without that sad cry for another month until he has to get another. At least we know it'll help keep him healthy in the long run.
On a happier note, he's growing!
He now weighs 8 lbs 14 ounces and has grown an entire 2 inches - 21 1/2 inches long.
I can't believe some people have babies as big, or bigger, than he is right now.
And since we're talking about measurements, we also discovered that his hair is 1 1/2 inches tall.
We love this kid.
Even if he does keep us from sleeping.
