Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Last year we made the mistake of waiting too long to go pick out our tree so this year we showed up on Day 1 to chop it down.

It was extra motivating to do it on Friday because Grandma and Grandpa were here.

The downside is that it was super rainy (and cold).

We trudged through the tree farm checking out tree after tree while Dragon stomped in mud puddles.

In case you can't tell, it was a little cold.

We finally decided on a tree, turned around, and Grandpa was helping another family chop their tree down. Some people are so good at seeing the needs of others and stepping up. I'm trying to be better about that lately.

Next, it was our turn:

Colt was a trooper. He didn't make a peep the entire time we were there. I figure he was probably pretty warm snuggled up against me. He did, however, protest getting back in his seat when we left.

I love that last picture. His cute little red nose.

After our tree was loaded up, we headed home and pulled out the Christmas decorations. Tim and Ben got our tree in its stand and I put the lights on while we listened to Christmas music.

(The next two pictures are courtesy of Dragon)

I had to point out Dragon took these pictures so you wouldn't wonder why I thought it was so important to take a picture of Santa on his horse tangled in a string of lights. I'm pretty sure Dragon set this scene up himself and everything.

Colt is also really getting into the holiday spirit. So far his favorite activity is gnawing on Christmas light cords and bobbing his head to the peppy Christmas songs.

I am so excited about our tree this year. It's beautiful! Going on the first day the tree farm was open really paid off!

Now we just need to get the tree and our house decorated and we'll be ready to welcome the Christmas season.

I can't wait!

Brooke, that photo of you putting up the lights is so beautiful and heavenly looking.
Dragon did a very good job of point and shoot considering he is just a tot!
